Tacinga inamoena

T. inamoena (K.Schum.) N.P.Taylor & Stuppy has been know as Platyopuntia inamoena and Opuntia inamoena.

Tacinga differs from Opuntia in floral structure (eg, having recurved tepals) and in stamen insensitivity. Opuntia stamens respond to touch by moving; Tachinga stamens do not respond to touch.

This Brazilian plant is variable, and some flower color forms or cladode variants have been collected. The plant is easy to grow and can tolerate light frosts. Generally, T. inamoena lacks spines. You may read more about Brazilian opuntias and related plants here.
