Opuntia stenopetala

Opuntia stenopetala is from Mexico. It has variously been known as O. arrastradillo, O. grandis, O. marnieriana, and O. riviereana. The species is found sporadically in nothern Mexico in many locations (apparently northeastern Mexico). The plants are low growing. One photo at Flickr shows the markings that are present on some plants (stressed plants?).

You can find an early description of O. stenopetala here.
