Opuntia spinosibacca M. S. Anthony, Amer. Midl. Naturalist. 55: 246 (Opuntia x spinosibacca)

In the United States O. x spinosibacca is found only in the Big Bend region of Texas, but it extends to adjacent portions of Mexico. The taxon is apparently a species created through the natural hybridization of O. aureispina (a diploid species) and an unknown hexaploid species.

The Flora of North America (online) provides a technical description of the taxon and a distribution map for the species.
