Grusonia schottii Engelm.

A number of small opuntiads have been described that resemble O. schottii (Grusonia schottii); they may all be related including O. ageria, O. densispina, and O. emoryii. The small stems can easily detach and reattach to shoes, boots, and animals, making the plant a pest in some areas. The Flora of North America provides a description of O. schottii.

Read the original description by Engelmann, from 1856.
