Opuntia microdasys (Lehmann) Pfeiffer

Opuntia microdasys may have white, yellow, or reddish-brown glochids. The plant is not particularly closely related to O. rufida, even though some authors have proposed that the species is somehow related to that taxon.

Opuntia microdasys is native to central and northern Mexico, but it can be grown outdoors in the southern portions of the southwestern states. See the Flora of North America for more information.
