Opuntia confusa Griffiths 1914Most of the images show two different plants, one grown from materials at the type locality. Both plants were photographed at the Rio Grande Botanic Garden in Albuquerque. The plants from the type locality (bottom set) are from near Florida Canyon, in the vicinity of Tucson, AZ. The upper set of photos are from germplasm collected at Tortugas Moutain ("A" Mountain) in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The final four images show plants in the wild. Another image of Opuntia confusa (taken at Alamogordo, NM in 2004) can be seen here. O. confusa is the reddish plant in the center of the photo (O. orbiculata above and O. dulcis bottom right corner). O. confusa is an interesting taxon because some pads have spination similar to O. dulcis, but other cladodes have spination similar to O. engelmannii.
