Opuntia chisosensis (Anthony) Ferguson
(Cactus and Succulent Journal, 1958, 124-127)

O. chisosensis is another Opuntia found only in the Big Bend region of Texas in the United States, but it is found in Coahuila, Mexico. Read a technical description of O. chisosensis at the Flora of North America online. O. chisosensis grows above 5,000 ft in wooded areas; it is distinguisable in its habitat by the typical yellow spines. More information can be found on page 156 of the Weedin and Powell book The Cacti of the Trans-Pecos and Adjacent Areas (Texas Tech Press, 2004).

The basionym for O. chisosensis is O. lindheimeri Engelm var. chisosensis Anthony (Amer. Mid. Naturalist 55; 252).
