Opuntia cacanapa Griffiths & Hare 1906
Although they can appear sometimes seem like different, especially because of difference in spination, Opuntia cacanapa and O. cacanapa c.v. 'Ellisiana' share key features that show their relatedness: 1) the strongly recurved leaves on cladodes and flowers, 2) the overall appearance of the flower and stigma, and 3) the general shape and size of the fruits. O. cacanapa c.v. 'Ellisiana' is one of the very few Opuntia without glochids, or essentially without glochids.
Read a description of O. cacanapa in the New Mexico Agricultural Experiment Station: Bulletin 60: pg. 47-48. 1906.
