Opuntia arbuscula (Engelmann) F. M. Knuth in C. Backeberg and F. M. Knuth, Kaktus-ABC. 123. 1935

Opuntia arbuscula (Cylindropuntia arbuscula) has flowers about 1 or 1.5 inches wide that bloom from late April into June; flowers may be green-yellow, reddish, or bonze. The plant is found in south-central Arizona, under 3000 ft elevation. O. arbuscula may be 2- or 3-foot-tall, or may form a shrub over 2 meters.

The Flora of North America (online) reports that O. arbuscula may hybridize with O. leptocaulis, O. spinosior, or O. versicolor.

Wild Flowers of Tucson (Web site) provides a few more images.
