Mission and Purpose

Through photography, field notes, examination of garden grown plants and seedlings, exploration of the confused literature, with feedback from readers, and by other methods, we hope to achieve a better understanding of Opuntia species (and opuntiads) of the USA. A special goal will be to use photographs liberally.

Opuntia Species Found in Texas (an "action" example of our Mission and Purpose).

NOTE: Some file sizes will be large, in order to provide close-up detail or a sense of habitat and associated species. Larger file sizes will download more slowly, and this will be a problem if you have a slow connection to the Internet. We will try to keep files smaller than 200-300 kb, but these will download slowly for some folks, especially if you have a dial-up Internet connection.
