Organization

Creating a Web site requires lots of work and input. This Web site strives for excellence and has assembled an editorial board as well as freelance contributors to help make sure the writing is correct, the photos excellent, and the information accurate.

It is hoped that the worldwide community will find this Web site useful. Therefore, in time, the goal is to provide articles from ever more contributing authors as well as to provide a place for airing differences of opinion in a scholarly way.

Submitting Articles

We actively seek submited articles about Opuntia species or related plants. Please write to any of the Editors (see below) for consideration of a topic. Hobby-type articles are appropriate as well as articles concerning aspects of plant biology, taxonomy, and related subjects. Digital images are encouraged if of suitable visual quality. Copyright ownership remains with the contributors. We are unable to publish copyrighted materials without permission from the copyright holder (generally the original author or photographer).

Editorial Board

Joe J. Shaw, PhD, Publisher and Author, JoeJShaw@aol.com.

Dave Ferguson, Senior Editor and Author (Curator Rio Grande Botanic Garden, Albuquerque, NM)

Dave Ferguson is tasked with the nearly impossible job of making sure cactus photos are correctly identified, especially for plants found west of the Mississippi River. Dave is referenced in multiple cactus-related publications and is heavily references in "Cacti of the Trans-Pecos & Adjacent Areas (Powell AM and Weedin JF, 2005, Texas Tech University Press).

Daniel A. Green, Editor and Author for the Southeast, danielalfredgreen@hotmail.com.

Daniel Green has the difficult task of providing identification for cacti east of the Mississippi River, including some that are nearly impossible to find and some that are very poorly understood. Most of the cacti are found in Florida.

Luc G. Bulot, Ph.D., European Editor and Author (Senior Scientist, Centre de Sédimentologie/Paléontologie, Université de Provence, Marseille, France) LucGBulot@aol.com

Luc G. Gulot has the unenviable task of providing up-to-date information about European discoveries and information about opuntiads.. Though the topic of this Web site is distinctly North American, Europeans were the first to study many of the species and have multiple, world-class collections of opuntiads. Dr. Bulot has published information about naturalized Opuntia in France and about Corynopuntia invicta.

Mike Burnett, Technical Consultant and Freelance Photographer

Mike Burnett provided valuable Internet and WWW advice as well as input for formating art and articles. His help was important in establishing this Web site. We will miss him; Mike passed away in January, 2011.
