Big Bend is an iconic part of Texas. The area is in the southwest part of the state, adjacent to Mexico. Many areas are high altitude and strikingly beautiful. The combination of elevational changes, diverse soils, and rugged wilderness provide a mix of climate and biological zones that foster and protect a rich variety of plants and animals. The Big Bend region of Texas is special; Big Bend National Park is especially pristine.
